advice for mirror heights (face and shoulder view)

for children in foundation

In order for children to be able to see their heads and shoulders, the bottom of mirror shall not be higher than 750mm and the top of mirror shall not be lower than 1080mm.

for children in key stage 1

In order for children to be able to see their heads and shoulders, the bottom of mirror shall not be higher than 890mm and the top of mirror shall not be lower than 1200mm.

for children in key stage 2

In order for children to be able to see their heads and shoulders, the bottom of mirror shall not be higher than 950mm and the top of mirror shall not be lower than 1450mm.

for children at primary school
option one		If children in Key stages 1 and 2 are able to use separate wash rooms, follow the instructions for Key stages 1 and 2.
option two		In order to enable all the children at primary school using the same wash rooms to see their heads and shoulders, the bottom of mirror shall not be higher than 890mm and the top of mirror shall not be lower than 1450mm

for children in key stage 3

In order for children to be able to see their heads and shoulders, the bottom of mirror shall not be higher than 1090mm and the top of mirror shall not be lower than 1600mm.

for children in key stage 4

In order for children to be able to see their heads and shoulders, the bottom of mirror shall not be higher than 1180mm and the top of mirror shall not be lower than 1700mm.

for children at secondary school
option one		If children in Key stages 3 and 4 are able to use separate washrooms, follow the instructions for Key stages 3 and 4.
option two		In order to enable all the children at secondary school using the same washrooms to see their heads and shoulders, the bottom of mirror shall not be higher than 1090mm and the top of mirror shall not be lower than 1700mm.

for children in post 16 educational institutions

In order for children to be able to see their heads and shoulders, the bottom of mirror shall not be higher than 1210mm and the top of mirror shall not be lower than 1700mm.
